Kirkgate Investigation 1

Kirkgate - Bridlington    

The location we investigated was a private property so we only have a picture of the area and not the home. We arrived on Friday 20th February at about 7.30pm. We were welcomed into the home by Phyllis who decided to join us on our quest. Some of the team could not make the first investigation as they had other commitments so Jo, Nicky and Jamie (Nicky's son) along with Phyllis attended the investigation.

The Interview

Nicky interviewed Phyllis with some questions we had put together.  

      1.      How old is the property ?

The house is about 300 years old.  Built around 1823 .

2.      What year did the property change from number 12 to number 15 ?

The house had not always been number 15 and was changed from no: 12 to no: 15 in 1950. We are not sure of the reason for this.

3.      Describe the paranormal activity you have witnessed at the present ?

The kind of activity that has been going on is that things have been found that have been lost for some time.

Also from time to time knocking can be heard on the front door and on answering nobody is there.

4.      Have you heard any news of paranormal activity in the house in the past from previouse owners ?

Unfortunatly the answer to this was no.

5.      Are there any physical signs that you can tell us about ?

There is a step leading up to the attic which has a big chunk missing from it and gives off the feeling that some one may have fallen down the attic steps.

6.      Which room has the most activity in the house ?

The attic and the spare room. So the spare room is where we will set up the trigger objects.

7.      Have you got the deeds to the property ?

The deeds to the property was able to be looked by Nicky. Jo did not get to look at them though. After taking a quick look at them I was able to verify one of the previous owners of which I had already done some research on.

8.      How do you feel when you have experienced any activity ?

Phyllis is happy to be in the house and  not scared by any thing that she is feeling, the only problem is that sometimes she feels very cold sometimes.

9.      At what time of the day or night if any do you feel there is more activity ?

There is no difference.

The Clock question

Jo had a sudden urge to add a question to the interview list. She felt that the owner had a clock somewhere in the house that had stopped or wasnt working. This question did at first seem silly but nothing can be ignored when it comes to Jo's senses so the question was added.

The Five Pound Note

During the interview with Phyllis she told us that the spirit presence she felt helped her to find things. If she could not find something she would ask out for help in finding the object and within five minutes the item would be found. Jo went into the garden for a smoke with Phyllis and she finds a five pound note out there. Also later in the night we searched the coffee table for a lighter and could not find it so we asked Phyllis to do her stuff and was impressed to find the lighter straight away.

The Trigger Objects

We chose to use a Compact Disc on a white peice of paper and also a pile of talc which was made flat at the top so we would notice if anything was touched. We drew round the CD and the talc. See the photo section to view the picture to get an idea of how we did it. The Trigger was placed in the most energetic room but nothing happened. The room was locked off. There is a photo of the trigger objects used in the photo pages.

The audio taped with mobile phone

Jamie used his mobile recording device to place in the room along with the triggers. This devise was left with record playing. We went back after an hour and ten minutes into the recording there is the sound of a laugh which we cannot explain. We are looking into how we can get this recording onto the site. The Digital Photographs

Nicky took lots of pictures that you can view on the photo page. There were just a few that we did get that made us think too. We were that impressed with one particular photo that we emailed it to the Hull Paranormal Website to see if Neil could give us his views on it. We are still awaiting his views but have been told he has seen the picture. Pictures are shown on the Kirkgate photopage.

The Green Man

Before we went to Phyllis's House she told us that she felt that the spirits like the colour green. This sounded quite strange but we went with it.
