The Kirkgate Investigation

The Kirkgate Investigation was our first step into the world of the unknown and I was very excited about it. I had chosen to stay open minded about the whole thing and not to worry about what would happen. I had only just begun to admit to myself that I was experiencing something that I often just shoved to the back of my mind.

I tried to open up to spiritual energy to see what would come to mind befor the investigation. I have experienced this before when I have opened up a few days before and got something that I can work towards so that I can confirm later on. I had a question ready for the owner of the house which seemed to be bizarre at the time but i was determined to stick with what I had been given.

When I stepped into the house I didnt get any feelings of spiritual energy and felt very calm and relaxed. I thought I would be really scared while we were in the attic but this is not how I felt. I even surprised myself that I could speak out and when I did speak out I dont think I sensed anything.

We all decided that we would go across to the church and take some pictures. During our walk around the church we took lots of pictures and the owner spoke to us about the surrounding areas.

I did get confirmation of the question that I asked the owner which was a bonus and I had a really good dream while I slept in the house too. I felt that the investigation was a real success and gave us some insight on what to expect when we were together working towards our quest. We have not done many buildings yet but I cant wait till the next investigation.

When Lucy Broke her Arm

One morning at about 8.00 am I was woken up by the phone ringing. It was my best friend letting me know she had been in the hospital with her daughter. I replied half asleep saying "Yes, I know Lucy fell out of bed and broke her arm". My mate was surprised as me and when I was fully aware I realised that I had dreamt that her daughter had fallen out of bed during the night. Its really strange to think that it actually happened as I was dreaming it. If my freind hadnt rung me in the morning I dont know if I would have remembered the dream. Also I am glad she did ring when she did because it made me think twice about what I was experiencing at the time and to look into it more. It's just a pity that I couldn't have stopped Lucy from hurting herself, it would have saved a lot of pain in her eyes.

I felt Possessed

One night I was in bed just about to fall asleep. I could feel myself drifting off when all of a sudden I sort of felt that something or someone had moved within me. I know it sounds strange and I cant really describe how it felt. I remember at the time I was really scared and wanted it to stop and go away. I began screaming out and struggling. Finally i felt totally awake and my husband told me that I had just closed my eyes and then started screaming. I thought I was feeling possessed for ages. I remember a medium told me that if i don't like a feeling to just tell it to go away. So that is what I did. If my husband hadn't seen it then I would have just passed it off as a nightmare. I know that I certainly wont forget it for some time. I did learn though that I don't need to be scared because if it is a spiritual energy they wont bother me if I don't want them to.

My First Message to Give

When I moved into my new home I organised for two of my close friends to visit. I had been suffering from a really strong headache for a few days now. I had this song ringing through my brain and it was doing my head in. The song was 'Wake up Maggie' by Rod Stewart. I do not know where it came from its not really one of my favourites but it was making my headache worse. I rang my friends to arrange the time that I could pick them up and as I spoke to them my head suddenly stopped hurting. When I did pick up one of the friends my headache lifted completely. It felt really strange and normally I would have ignored it as best as I could but something was nagging at me. Even more when we got to my house. I asked my friend if the song meant anything to her and she could not recall it but a few minutes later she jumped up saying she remembered that the song was her sister's best mates song. Her sister is in the spirit world and it did feel to me that she was letting her presence be known. I asked my friend if there was a birthday coming up soon to which she answered that her daughter's birthday was the following week. I said no thats not the one and I gave her the date. The date I had given her was the date of birth of her sister in spirit. I told my friend i reckoned she was just reminding her of the date and that it was coming up soon. It pleased me that I had given my first message to a close friend and hoped that she believed in me.

The Edinburgh Street Community Centre

Well what a night. I really didnt think that I would make it as I had to attend to something else that nite but then all of a sudden things started to get better and I called the team to tell them I was on my way. I got there just as they had finished the baselining. The investigation went very smoothly and I felt that I had picked up a few things that the owners could verify later. I got up on the stage and it was pitch black dark although I did have a torch with me and I said that I could sense a tall man with a black tall top hat on and everyone said oh yeah turn around Jo and there was a large collage on the wall of the man that I had sensed lol. The most strangest thing that happened was that all night I had the name JOHN BARTLETT being given to me over and over again. It was as if someone was spiritually telling me to check the walls for the name and although me and the whole team looked all nite it wasnt there. At the end of the night we were taking the post-it slips from the walls from the base lining and as I removed one from the door entrance to the hall the name JOHN was inscribed into the scratchpanel on the door. I still wonder about that name and would be grateful if anyone can shed any light on it please.

Investigation number 2 at Edinburgh Street Community Centre

Yes we have done this building again and it was very exciting. We also teamed up with Hull Paranormal Investigators on this night. We had more equipment and more people tonight so we could get more feedback. I cant say much about the planning that was made within the investigation as I didnt get much access from the others. I was going in blind this time. There was a great feeling in the hall this time as we were all stood on the stage we really thought we could see a small childlike spirit moving around in the corner and there were noises coming from this area too. It did get quite exciting and I also noticed that we all was talking to the area as if she was there. We did not get footage of this. We also used a sensor beam in the conference room which did go off a few times with no explanation.
